Our EFFT Workshop

The caregiver workshop provides tools, support, and skills practice for parents and caregivers looking to help their loved one through emotional and behavioural problems, mental health challenges, and recovery from a range of clinical disorders.

Our workshop on Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) can help.

  • Our institute in partnership with the Family Psychology Centre, hosts an EFFT workshop to empower parents and caregivers to help their children manage difficult emotions and challenges.

This workshop teaches caregivers how to apply components of EFFT to better understand their own emotions as well as how to become your child's "emotion coach".

  • The workshop is designed to be a two-day experience, with comprehensive, thorough sessions scheduled on Thursday and Friday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. In addition, these sessions include regularly scheduled breaks in between workshop activities.

Led by our esteemed clinical director, Dr. Mirisse Foroughe, the workshop offers interactive instruction and, demonstrations focused on enhancing participants' comprehension and adeptness in understanding and managing emotions.

By engaging in this enlightening workshop, participants can choose to contribute to our research study in collaboration with the University of Waterloo. Integrating workshop participation with research involvement underscores our commitment to fostering a holistic learning experience and advancing the frontiers of knowledge in emotional well-being.

  • Our workshop invites parents and caregivers with children of all ages to attend and gain valuable insight into the fundamentals of EFFT. This workshop also encourages other adults looking to understand their own emotions to participate. Furthermore, our inclusive approach extends to professionals and academics, including clinicians, researchers, and students, who are looking to learn more about EFFT.

By creating a diverse and dynamic learning environment, we aim to cultivate a community dedicated to exploring and mastering the intricacies of EFFT, thus promoting emotional well-being across different age groups and contexts.

  • To participate in this workshop, prospective attendees can access this registration form or contact our registration team at efft@emotioninstitute.ca.

We are committed to providing guidance and support to answer your questions about the EFFT caregiver training and to ensure a smooth registration process for each caregiver.

Given the popularity of the EFFT workshop, and the fact that Dr. Mirisse facilitates the workshop only three times each year, it is important to secure your spot as early as possible, as seats tend to fill up quickly. Take advantage of this chance to enhance your understanding of emotions, benefit from the transformative process of Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), and support your loved one’s emotional and behavioural functioning.
