As we are a psychology lab, we are always looking for participants to join us in our research. If you would like to participate, please let us know!

In order to help you decide whether participating in research is right for you, we have answered the following common questions you may have, below:

i. What does participation entail?

ii. What are the benefits?

iii. How do I participate?

i. What does participation entail?

Typically, participation in our research involves your reflection on matters pertaining to your mental health in order to answer a series of questions, either in interview or survey format.

Participants are usually drawn from attendees to our EFFT workshops, who indicate their interest in participating in research with us in order to receive reduced registration prices; therefore, participation in our studies usually also entails participation in one of our EFFT workshops.

However, this is not always the case, as we do conduct additional studies which do not recruit participants from our EFFT workshops.

The exact nature of your participation in our research will change depending on what particular study you are involved with.

For more information on EFFT and our EFFT workshops, see the links below:

ii. What are the benefits?

There are several benefits of participating in our research, including the following:

  1. All of our participants are monetarily compensated (the exact rate of compensation for any given study may change, but will always involve a reduction in registration prices for our EFFT workshop).

  2. The nature of our research will have you introspect and reflect on matters of critical importance to your well-being, which may have the effect of evoking insight into, or helping you to better mentally organize and understand, your life’s circumstances. Participating in our research can feel rewarding, or even fun!

  3. We work to accommodate your needs, by tailoring the ways in which you participate to them.

  4. In addition to your personal gain, you will also become a part of important work in improving mental health; therapeutic insights gained in research in which you have have participated may someday help to more effectively treat the mental health challenges of others.

iii. How do I participate?

Participating in our research is easy; we will let you know if you are eligible whenever you sign up for our EFFT workshop.

Whenever you sign up for our EFFT workshop, you will be sent information about any studies we are currently conducting, the specific role of participants, and the rate of monetary compensation, issued in the form of a reduction in registration prices.

Additional avenues for participation are also available, for those studies of ours not recruiting participants from our EFFT workshops. You may view our additional studies page for more information.

If you have any further questions about the research process or your role as a participant, you may use the general inquiry form on our contact page to let us know.
